Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about NetKey's cloud RADIUS authentication platform.

Getting Started

NetKey is a cloud-based RADIUS authentication service that simplifies wireless network security. It supports multiple authentication methods including EasyPSK, iPSK (Identity PSK), 802.1X EAP-PEAP, and EAP-TLS, all managed through an intuitive web dashboard.
Most users are up and running within 15 minutes. Simply create an account, configure your wireless controller to point to our RADIUS servers, and start adding users or PSKs through the dashboard. We provide step-by-step guides for all major wireless vendors.
NetKey works with any wireless controller or access point that supports standard RADIUS authentication, including:
  • Cisco Meraki, Catalyst, and Wireless LAN Controllers
  • Aruba (HPE) access points and controllers
  • Ubiquiti UniFi and EdgeMax
  • Ruckus Wireless
  • Fortinet FortiAP
  • Juniper Mist
  • And many more...

Authentication Methods

EasyPSK provides unique pre-shared keys for each user on your network. Unlike traditional shared WiFi passwords, each person gets their own credential that can be individually tracked, managed, and revoked. Perfect for guest access, contractors, and temporary users. EasyPSK requires Cisco wireless controllers.
iPSK (Identity PSK) authenticates devices based on their MAC address. Each device or group of devices can have a unique key and be assigned to specific VLANs. This is ideal for IoT devices, printers, cameras, and other equipment that doesn't support 802.1X.
Yes! NetKey supports both EAP-PEAP (username/password) and EAP-TLS (certificate-based) authentication. For EAP-TLS, you can use our built-in certificate authority or bring your own. This provides the highest level of security for enterprise deployments.
Absolutely. NetKey supports dynamic VLAN assignment based on user, device, group membership, or authentication type. You can segment your network automatically without manual switch configuration. VLAN attributes are returned in the RADIUS response for supported controllers.

Security & Reliability

Security is our top priority. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We support RadSec (RADIUS over TLS) for secure communication between your network and our servers. Our infrastructure is hosted in SOC 2 compliant data centers with regular security audits.
NetKey runs on a globally distributed infrastructure with multiple redundant servers. We maintain 99.9% uptime SLA. Most wireless controllers support configuring multiple RADIUS servers, and we provide primary and secondary server addresses. For mission-critical deployments, we also offer on-premises replica nodes.
Yes, we fully support RadSec (RADIUS over TLS/DTLS) for encrypted RADIUS communication. This is especially important when your wireless controllers are in remote locations or communicating over untrusted networks. RadSec eliminates the need for shared secrets and provides mutual authentication.
Our nodes are strategically located in multiple regions to ensure low latency and high availability. We continuously expand our network to meet customer demand and provide the best possible service.
